Formations of note
The tower is the formation people come to see. There are others in the state, less vertical and less photographed. A selection, with the geology left mostly out because nobody asked.
Devils Tower
The columns at night, under the whole galaxy. The galaxy is older. The columns are cooler, in the strict sense of having cooled.

A sinkhole in the gypsum, filled over centuries with what was driven into it. Karst, technically. Also a filing system.

the Bedlam ruts
Wagon ruts in the grass west of the old fort, still visible after a century and a half. Erosion is slow out here. So is everything.

the Norris Geyser Basin
Sunset over the trees and steam near Norris, where the ground is hot and acidic and the rocks are dissolving. The office is on firmer ground and less interesting.
